HKCO 2026

The Hong Kong Cybersecurity Olympiad is a team-based Capture The Flag (CTF) competition specifically designed for Hong Kong students to enhance their cybersecurity skills through practical challenges. Teams typically consist of a set number of members, often three to five, who collaborate to solve a variety of cybersecurity puzzles and problems within a fixed time period. The event follows clear rules to ensure fair play: no external assistance is allowed, all challenges must be solved independently by team members, and any form of cheating or plagiarism results in immediate disqualification. The Olympiad features multiple rounds, including preliminary online qualifiers and a final onsite or virtual competition, where participants tackle challenges in areas such as cryptography, reverse engineering, web security, and forensics. Inspired by similar events like the HKIRC Cybersecurity Cadet Program, the Olympiad aims to cultivate teamwork, critical thinking, and technical proficiency among young cybersecurity enthusiasts in Hong Kong, while also offering prizes and opportunities for further training and development in the field.
